CORA DeLbridge

I'm a costume designer, shop manager and scenic artist with a deep passion for a well-orchestrated quick change and a borderline obsession with fabric, notions, and paint. I achieved a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre from Fairmont State University with an emphasis in Costume and Hair and Makeup Design.

For years I considered myself a jack-of-all-trades master-of-none. I had skills and passions in many areas, but didn’t know how to fit them into a single box. I went to college to study history, but soon found my passion for history had become a craving to not only understand human motive, but to breathe life into the characters I read about. By the time I realized this, I found myself spending more time in the costume shop than on my history homework, theatre had swallowed me.

Since then I have spent four summer seasons and two winter productions Costume Designing and Costume Shop Managing for Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio, as well as freelancing as a Costume Designer, Paint Charge Artist and Event Coordinator. My widespread skills have a home in the theatre world. I am almost as happy holding a paintbrush as a needle and thread, and I get just as excited running backstage to change a costume as I do designing and building one.

It’s often the little things about theatre that fuel my passion the most: finding the perfect research picture, the elation of a successful fitting, the addictive quality of a well-timed quick change, or the way an often unplanned design choice can ground a whole concept. All of these elements are bound together by my determined positive attitude and a dedication to creatively collaborate with a team bringing a show to life.
